Sound Monster: 

* This Friday, February 26th, 2016, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "o" sound on Wednesday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "o" sound include: octopus, olive, octagon and ostrich.

Important Information:

100th day of school: 

We will celebrate the 100 th day of kindergarten after March break on: Wednesday, March 9th, 2016. I have planned several fun activities for the week.  Over the March break I would like the children to prepare a collection of 100 objects of some sort to share with the class.  Some ideas include:

- 100 marbles
- 100 stickers
- 100 cotton balls
- 100 pennies
- 100 candies

Be creative!  Please send in your child's collection in a container or ziploc bag.  The children will then play a guessing game to try and guess each other's collections.

The second activity I am asking the parents to work on for the 100th day of school, is to make a t-shirt with 100 of something (foam hearts, feathers, pomp poms, etc) for your child to wear that day.  The deadline to send in your child's t-shirt will be the day preceding our 100th day: Tuesday, March 8th, 2016. There are many different t-shirt ideas online. I invite you to take a look.

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK AT GOOD SHEPHERD SCHOOL: 

This week is anti bullying week at Good Shepherd School.  The PPO has planned activities and games for the students to participate in to address this very important topic.

REPORT CARDS DOCUMENTS SENT HOME LAST WEEK: 

As soon as possible, please return the ziploc bag, confirmation slip for second term report card and the explanation sheet of the Kindergarten competencies. 

MYSTERY BAG (SHOW AND TELL ACTIVITY):

 * This week: Bradley and Naailah will present their Mystery bags on Wednesday, February 24th, 2016.

OVERNIGHT BUDDY:

We will continue our overnight buddy activity this week. Each night a different child in the class will take home our class buddy Olivia the Owl and complete a page in her journal adventure book. Please return the overnight buddy and journal book in the ziploc bag it was sent home in the next day.

THEME TABLE:

Our new theme will be Dr. Seuss.  I invite the children to bring in books, toys or objects related to our theme that we can place on our theme table in the class. Please be sure to write your child' s name on the item or book so that I can easily return it to you. Thank you in advance!

REMINDER:

The blue and purple duo-tangs will be sent home every Monday and must be returned the following Monday.  Throughout the week, please review the sound of the week and have your child complete the corresponding pages in the purple duo-tang.  Please have your child practice singing the weekly songs/poems and complete the activity at the bottom of the page (if there is one) in the blue duo-tang. Please refer to the introduction letter for a more detailed explanation of this on the 2nd page in the blue and purple duo-tangs.
