This Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "p" sound on Wednesday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "p" sound include: pink, purple, potato, pencil, pineapple and pumpkin.

Number of the Week:

Important Information:

LIBRARY:

Last week, the librarian was ill on Thursday and therefore there was no one to sign out books during my class' library period. The students will visit the library with Ms. Brittany this Thursday.  Please return your child's library book by THURSDAY in the ZIPLOC BAG. Thank you!

* Be sure to check the family project tab for this month's homework (if you have not already done so).

* I have added new pictures of the children in the photos tab.

REMINDERS:

The dark blue and light blue duo-tangs will be sent home every Monday and must be returned the following Monday.  Throughout the week, please review the sound of the week and have your child complete the corresponding pages in the light blue duo-tang.  Please have your child practice singing the weekly songs/poems and complete the activity at the bottom of the page (if there is one) in the dark blue duo-tang. Please refer to the introduction letter for a more detailed explanation of this on the 2nd page in the dark blue and light blue duo-tangs.

Please continue to have your child practice writing his/her name EVERY DAY.  Thank you!

CHANGE OF CLOTHES FOR YOUR CHILD:

When I checked the extra clothes last week, I noticed that many of the children's extra clothes included a pair of shorts and a short sleeve top.  With the change in season, I am asking all parents to send in a long sleeve top and pants to be kept at school for their child.

COLD WEATHER:

This week we are going to be experiencing colder temperatures.  Fall has finally arrived! With the colder weather, please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket, hat, scarf/neck warmer, and gloves/mitts.  It might be a good idea to begin sending your child to school with boots as well since the children are outside for at least 15 minutes at recess and at least 30 minutes at lunch time. Thank you :)

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION:

On Monday, October 31st, 2016, we will celebrate Halloween in my class.  We will do some special Halloween activities.  I encourage you to send your child to school with a costume if you'd like.  Here are some important points to remember for this day:
  • no violent or scary costumes
  • no masks
  • no weapons (even plastic)
  • Ms. Alexis (who teaches in my class for 1:15 minutes per week) has a student teacher working with her, her name is Ms. Stef.  Ms. Stef does face painting for children's birthday parties and would like to surprise the children by painting their faces that day.  Please inform me in writing if you would not like her to paint your child's face.  Please note that the paint will wash off easily with soap and water at bath time as it is not real paint.
  • treats for the class: if you would like to send in treats for the class please be sure to send one for all of the children so no child feels left out.  There are 16 children in the class.  Please note there is NO OBLIGATION to send in candy or a treat.
