Sound Monster: 

This Friday, April 1st, 2016, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "n" sound on Wednesday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "n" sound include: goat, gorilla, girl, and green.

MYSTERY BAG (SHOW AND TELL ACTIVITY):

 * This week: Uma and Vihaan will present their Mystery bags on Friday,  April 1st, 2016.

OVERNIGHT BUDDY:

Our class buddy, Freddie the Frog will continue to make his way around the class for visits at the children's homes.  Please have your child complete a page in his journal adventure book. Please return the overnight buddy and journal book in the ziploc bag it was sent home in the next day.

SCHOLASTICS:

Please note that the deadline to submit your order is Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

THEME TABLE:

We are continuing our Easter theme this week.  I invite the children to bring in books, toys or objects related to our theme that we can place on our theme table in the class. Please be sure to write your child' s name on the item or book so that I can easily return it to you. Thank you in advance!

REMINDER:

The blue and purple duo-tangs will be sent home every Monday and must be returned the following Monday.  Throughout the week, please review the sound of the week and have your child complete the corresponding pages in the purple duo-tang.  Please have your child practice singing the weekly songs/poems and complete the activity at the bottom of the page (if there is one) in the blue duo-tang. Please refer to the introduction letter for a more detailed explanation of this on the 2nd page in the blue and purple duo-tangs.

This Week in Kindergarten March 14th - March 18th

This Friday, March 18th, 2016, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "u" sound on Wednesday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "u" sound include: umbrella and up.

Important Information:

* Please note that there is NO new family project for the month of March.  Since the children made their 100th day t-shirt, that will count as our family project for this month. 

* I have posted new pictures of the children in the Photos tab.  All of the photos under the February and March heading are NEW.

READING MONTH:

The month of March is READING MONTH here at Good Shepherd school.  Our school wide theme is the rainforest and we will be doing lots of fun reading activities throughout the month. This Friday we will welcome a guest reader from Riverside School Board to read to our Kindergarten class.  Last week a rainforest questionnaire was sent home.  This is for a contest for reading month.  Please note that it is not mandatory to complete it; those that do will be entered into the draw to win a prize at the end of the month.

SCHOLASTICS:

I am sending home the flyers for the month of March this week.  Please note that the deadline to submit your order is Wednesday, March 30th, 2016.

Sound Monster: 

This Friday, March 11th, 2016, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "d" sound on Wednesday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "d" sound include: doll, drum and dinosaur.

Important Information:

100th day of school: 

We will celebrate the 100 th day of kindergarten on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016. I have planned several fun activities for the week.

BEFORE Wednesday, March 9th, 2016:

1- Please send in your child's 100 collection Please send it to school in a ziplock bag or Tupperware container . Some examples of collections include:

- 100 marbles
- 100 stickers
- 100 cotton balls
- 100 pennies
- 100 candies

Be creative! The children will then play a guessing game to try and guess each other's collections.

2-  Please send in your child's 100th day t-shirt with 100 of something (foam hearts, feathers, pom poms, etc) for your child to wear that day.  The deadline to send in your child's t-shirt will be the day preceding our 100th day: Tuesday, March 8th, 2016. There are many different t-shirt ideas online. I invite you to take a look.
