Update: Monday, March 30th, 2020

Hello families,

I hope you are all in good health and enjoying time together with your family.  I miss my students very much! Please tell your children I am sending them all a big hug! 

Today, the government of Quebec has launched a portal with links to websites and various activities for the different grade levels.  Please note you are under NO OBLIGATION to complete these activities with your child at home. 

I can imagine it is quite challenging for many of you to work from home and take care of your children.  My husband has been doing so for the past two weeks and I see how challenging that would be if he also was taking care of our children simultaneously. Please know that there is no pressure from me to complete activities or take over the teaching of your child.  Please take this time with your children to do things you always wanted to do, but lacked the time.  My kids and I have been doing lots of cooking and baking over the past two weeks.  We cleaned out our shed in the backyard. We are playing a lot of board games and card games and having family movie nights.  My kids love that they are going to bed late:) 

In this time of uncertainty, we are learning to take things one day at a time and adapt to this unprecedented situation we are currently living.  Please feel free to email me: anna.romanini@rsb.qc.ca if you have any questions, comments about the report card for the second term or for any reason. Sound Monster: 

* This Friday, March 13th, 2020 we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "u" sound on Thursday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "u" sound include: umbrella, up, unicycle and uncle.

* I have posted lots of new pictures of the children in the Photos tab.  There are some great pictures from the 100th day activities! 

* I have posted the new family project for the month of March. (The shamrock pattern and activity sheet to complete will be sent home in the agenda folder this week.) 

CLASS BOOK:

In January, we made a class book titled: "In the Winter". This week, I will begin sending it home with a different child each night. Please feel free to write your child a short message at the back of the book (on the pink pages). Some ideas include: Great job _____! I love your picture _______! etc. We will place the book in the class library for the children to read. Thank you for your cooperation:)

SCHOLASTICS:

I sent home the March flyers for Scholastics before the March break. The deadline to submit your order is Thursday, March 12, 2020. 

MYSTERY BAG (SHOW AND TELL ACTIVITY):

Maximus, Olivier and Zain will present their Mystery bags on Friday, March 13, 2020. 

OVERNIGHT BUDDY:

Our overnight buddy Olivia the Owl will continue to make her way around our class. Please return the overnight buddy and journal book in the ziploc bag it was sent home in the next day.

MULTICULTURAL FAIR:

Good Shepherd School will be hosting a multicultural fair at the end of the month (on Thursday, March 26th, 2020, from 4:00-6:00 P.M.).  My class has randomly selected to learn more about PAKISTAN!  If you have any books or other items to share with the class, I would greatly appreciate it, as I do not have much material on Pakistan. Thank you :) 

POSSIBILITY OF LEAD IN THE WATER AT SCHOOL:

Please continue to send in A WATER BOTTLE FROM HOME (FILLED WITH WATER) for your child to drink at school.
