TERRY FOX WALK: TOONIES FOR TERRY

Last Friday, September 25th, 2020, Mrs. Terry (the school secretary) sent an email regarding the TERRY FOX FUNDRAISER.  We are asking the children to send in a TOONIE to help raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research.  If you would like to donate online, you may also do so at:

Thank you for your support for this wonderful cause.

I have noted great improvement in the children writing their names! This is wonderful.  To continue seeing improvement, please have your child practice writing his/her name in lower case letters EVERY DAY.  Please focus on correct letter formation (make letters from TOP to BOTTOM etc.).

REMINDER FOR TUMBLEBOOKS:

There is a great website that your children have free access to as Riverside students.  Tumblebooks has a wide assortment of animated books in English and French (and Spanish!) that are read aloud.  We listen to stories from this website everyday during snack time.

REMINDER FOR SCHOLASTICS:

The first Scholastic paper flyer was sent home last week.  There are a lot more books online as well.

You can view a digital flyer here with lots more books than available in the paper flyer: https://editions.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?i=670961

You can explore their website for lots different books as well. www.scholastic.ca

If you would like to purchase books from the Scholastic website, simply take note of the title, price and item number and I can easily order them for you.

I am encouraging parents NOT to place their orders online and instead to have me place a class order.  To receive free shipping to your home you must spend $35. Sometimes parents like to buy one or a few books.  If I place a class order, we only need $35 of orders (from the entire class) to get free shipping and this way you may purchase what you would like, even if it is the $2.00 book. You must pay by cash this year as Scholastic is not accepting cheques for the time being. The deadline to submit your order is: Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020.  The books usually arrive within a week.

I have posted some new pictures of the children on the website. Once you have clicked on the Photos tab, just click on the link below the title of the album to view the pictures.

While on the website, please visit the tab Family Project for more information on the Family Project for this month.
