This week in Kindergarten November 25-29, 2019

Sound of the week:

Sound Monster: 

This Friday, November 29th, 2019, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "R" sound on Thursday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "R" sound include: red, rock, ring, rectangle, ruler, rocket, rope and rhinoceros.

Important Information:

For the November Family Project:

Since winter arrived a month early, some of you may not have had an opportunity to collect fall leaves yet.  If this is the case, please feel free to make some leaves out of construction paper or print some leaves from your computer in order to complete the project.

* I have added new pictures of the children in the photos tab.  


THEME TABLE:

We are continuing our bear theme this week.  I invite the children to bring in books, toys or objects related to our theme that we can place on our theme table in the class.  Please be sure to write your child' s name on the item or book so that I can easily return it to you.  Thank you in advance!

SCHOLASTICS:

Last week I sent home the flyers for DECEMBER. The deadline to submit your order is Tuesday, December 2nd, 2019. If your order is a surprise for your child, please let me know and I can send it home in a sealed envelope.


LIBRARY:

Please ensure your child returns his/her library books by Wednesday so he/she may borrow new books. Thank you :)

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS (MEETINGS):

Thank you all for coming to our parent teacher meetings last week.  It was great to meet with you and discuss the super progress your little munchkins have made so far in Kindergarten! I will be sending home the YELLOW duo-tang this week with the Term 1 work.  PLEASE KEEP THIS DUO-TANG AT HOME.

REPORT CARDS:

You will be able to access your child's first term report card on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 on the RSB portal. Please note that the school will no longer send home paper copies of the report cards.

Last week , I sent home a PINK paper with our parent-teacher meeting appointment time.  I look forward to meeting with you on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning to discuss the wonderful progress your munchkins are making in Kindergarten!

This Friday, November 8th, 2019, we will be feeding the Sound Monster.  Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "L" sound on Friday.  The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day.  If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "L" sound include: leaf, letter, lollipop and Lego.

COLD WEATHER:

With the colder weather, please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket, hat, scarf/neck warmer, and gloves/mitts.  It might be a good idea to begin sending your child to school with boots as well since the children are outside for at least 20 minutes at recess and at least 30 minutes at lunch time. Thank you :)

LIBRARY:

Please continue to have your child practice writing his/her name EVERY DAY.  Please have your child use lower case (small) letters for his/her name.  Thank you!
