In addition to wearing their pajamas to school today, the students can bring in board games or other games to share with the class. NO ELECTRONIC GAMES PLEASE!  Also, if they'd like to bring in a treat (to eat) for the class, they can.

DONATIONS FOR H.O.P.E. CHARITY:

We are collecting NON-PERISHABLE food items for the H.O.P.E. charity. If you can donate a canned good or box of pasta etc. it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

HOLIDAY SHOW

On Thursday, December 12th, 2019, (at 6:30 PM) Good Shepherd School will be putting on our holiday show. Throughout the show, every class will perform a song. My Kindergarten class is paired with Ms. Alexis's grade 6 class. If you would like to attend the show, you must pre-order tickets (maximum of 2 per family) by completing the order form you received by email from Ms. Terry. If you would like me to send home a paper copy for you, please let me know.

COLD WEATHER:

EYE EXAM AT SCHOOL:

The eye exams will take place on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 in the afternoon. Please speak with your children about this in case they may be nervous or scared. Thank you! :)

PIZZA DAY:

On Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 Good Shepherd School will host its first pizza day lunch. Please note there is no need to pre-order the pizza. Simply have your child bring in his/her money in a ziploc bag or envelope and the lunch monitor will assist the children. There is the choice of cheese pizza and pepperoni pizza. Each slice of pizza costs $2.50.  Juice boxes are available for $1.00.  Please take note that the school cafeteria will be closed on this day, therefore please send your child to school with a lunch if he/she will not be purchasing pizza. Also, please send in a MORNING SNACK as usual and snacks for lunch since there is no bake sale this month.

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION:

On Thursday, October 31st, 2019, we will celebrate Halloween in my class.  We will do some special Halloween activities.  I encourage you to send your child to school with a costume if you'd like.  Here are some important points to remember for this day:

  • no violent or scary costumes
  • no masks
  • no weapons (even plastic)
  • treats for the class: if you would like to send in treats for the class please be sure to send one for all of the children so no child feels left out.  There are 15 children in the class.  Please note there is NO OBLIGATION to send in candy or a treat.

Last Friday, I sent home a consent form for a FREE eye exam being offered to our students in Kindergarten. Please sign and return it to school as soon as possible. REMINDERS:

The blue duo-tang will be sent home every Monday and must be returned the following Monday. You will keep the purple duo-tang at home. Throughout the week, please review the sound of the week and have your child complete the corresponding pages in the purple duo-tang.  Please have your child practice singing the weekly songs/poems and complete the activity at the bottom of the page (if there is one) in the blue duo-tang. THANKSGIVING BREAKFAST:

Thursday, October 10th, 2019 is Good Shepherd School's Thanksgiving breakfast (which is a school wide activity). Families are invited to eat breakfast with our class and the school community on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the gym.  I have asked all of the children to bring in a contribution for the breakfast. If you can join us, please head to the gym for 8:30 AM. Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you there!

Sound Monster: 

This Friday, October 4th, 2019, we will be feeding the Sound Monster. Please send in 1 item (a toy, a book, a picture, etc. ) that begins with the "a" sound on Friday. The item will be returned to your child at the end of the day. If you cannot find an item, you can have your child draw a picture and write the corresponding word.  Some ideas for the "a" sound include: apple, ant, and alligator.

We are continuing our apple theme.  I invite the children to bring in books, toys or objects related to our theme that we can place on our theme table in the class. THANKSGIVING BREAKFAST:

Thursday, October 10th, 2019 is Good Shepherd School's Thanksgiving breakfast (which is a school wide activity). Families are invited to eat breakfast with our class and the school community on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the gym. On Monday, I will send a letter home with the specific information. I have asked all of the children to bring in a contribution for the breakfast. If you can join us, please head to the gym for 8:30 AM. Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you there!

Important Information:

This year, we will be working closely with a speech therapist named Rebecca Stewart.  She will come to our class to team teach phonological awareness and other activities to develop language acquisition with me.  She will be coming to work with the children this Tuesday.

This week, we will continue our apple theme.  I invite the children to bring in books, toys or objects related to our theme that we can place on our theme table in the class. We have many fun activities planned related to apples in the coming weeks. I am asking all children to bring 3 apples to school by next Monday.  Please send in a red apple (a Red Delicious, Gala or McIntosh), a yellow apple (Golden Delicious) and a green apple (Granny Smith). Please send the apples to school as soon as possible.  We will use the apples to make apple sauce and for a taste test as well as some Science and Math lessons.
